Overview
We here at Skeena value the historical and cultural interests of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and recognize our responsibility to work to protect those interests. It is our goal to seek respectful, mutually beneficial relationships with Indigenous communities to promote a positive understanding of each other’s interests, values, and goals. We believe that through these relationships we can work to increase the economic benefit from the forest sector for Indigenous communities.
We take a proactive approach to community engagement and work to enhance our collaborations with the Indigenous People of Canada. To continue strengthening this commitment, Skeena aims to:
• Support long-term relationships based on a mutual understanding and respect of each other’s interests and goals.
• Maintain and fortify communications with local Indigenous groups.
• Establish an inclusive process that identifies and promotes opportunities and works to address and resolve conflicts that might arise.
• Provide and support training initiatives for Indigenous people.
